Theatre project.
Read-through and Rehearsal.
Year 13 theatre studies students did read-throughs of scenes
from ‘Our Country's Good’ by Timberlake Wertenbaker.
They rehearsed using the ‘Garrick’ style of acting. This
involves the use of very subdued but dramatic footlights.
The students had to play to these lights and gesture to
the audience in a ‘big’ style.
Year 10 art students drew the actors focusing on their
body gestures, movements and the lighting effects
on the figures. Students had to work in a quick and
free way avoiding unnecessary detail in their drawings.
Students' drawings were then worked into with oil pastels,
focusing on the use of colour to create tone, form and
movement.
William de Ferrers School.
