KS3. Year 7. 2004 - 2005.

Julia Stubbs worked with Chelmsford Museum to explore how
their collections could be used more in schools.

She worked with Caroline Hammer (Education Officer) and
Anne Lutyens-Humfrey (Keeper of Decorative Arts), to
create a topic box of Victorian stuffed birds and artists' prints.

Julia piloted the use of this box with her year 7 students.
It was incorporated into a scheme of work on the basic
elements of art and design (e.g. line, shape, pattern,
texture, form, tone and colour):

1. Bird studies
2. Printed design (black on white)
3. Printed design (two colours)
4. Homework collage
5. Fine-line pen study (from an artisit's print)
6. Fine-line pen study (from observation)
7. Ink and wax resist
8. Foil design
9. Batik
10. Student comments

An exhibition of the students' artwork was held at Chelmsford Museum.

A GCSE student used the resources for her final exam.
Julia also did a drawing workshop for a primary school.
