Year 6 pupils from local feeder primary schools spent a half-day at William de Ferrers School, to get a feel for secondary school life.
Julia Stubbs talked about 'still life', a Harmen Steenwyck vanitas painting, the objects in it, the senses, colour and touch/texture.
They looked at a pumpkin and talked about its colour and texture. Julia demonstrated what they had to do and showed an example. Pupils drew using chalk pastels on A4 paper. 40 minutes.
