Day 1. Warming up.

Students were given A1 size paper,
charcoal, felt pen and oil pastel.

They had to respond to the dancers
as they performed, using expressive
mark-making rather than attempting
to draw the figures as they actually
looked.

To help them with this, images of
Abstract Expressionist work by
artists such as Jackson Pollock
were projected onto a large screen
as they worked.
