Julia Stubbs
I work as an
Advanced Skills Teacher (AST)
in Art & Design at William de Ferrers School,
Essex, UK.
I began my teaching career there in 1986 and in 2003 was appointed as an AST.
I spend one day a week on AST activities.
Examples of my AST work are:
-
Piloting the artistic use of Chelmsford
Museum's resources in schools. - INSET training in screen printing, 3D modelling materials, batik and pupil sketchbooks.
- Model lessons, with staff observing, in drawing, figure drawing, portraits, painting and printing for primary school pupils.
- Induction and mentoring of PGCE students, newly qualified teachers, overseas teachers, heads of department and ASTs.
- Devised a new Lesson Observation Policy, Lesson Observation Form and Crib Sheet for my School, and trained staff.
If you work in Art & Design at a Primary or Secondary School in Essex and believe an AST may be able to help you, then please contact either myself or the Curriculum Adviser for Art and Design, Essex County Council.
